Best iPad Apps to Stream Music & Video From Your PC to Your iPad

As the App Store continues to grow with innovative apps being launched on a regular basis, today I wanted to highlight a few apps that can greatly enhance your iPad experience. Gone are the days I have to convert music and video files, drag them in iTunes and sync my iPad. Instead, I now use a few of the apps below to stream my music and videos in various formats, without needing to convert or store them on my iPad. Get more out of your iPad by trying some of the apps below.

ZumoCast

(FREE) ZumoCast lets you stream your music and videos from multiple computers to your iPad using either Wifi or a 3G connection. ZumoCast works with AVI, MP4, 3GPP, Flash Video, and QuickTime files. One really useful aspect of this app is the ability to also download video, music and other files from your desktop to your iPad with one touch. To use this app, you’ll need to add the media folders to ZumoCast on your desktop.

Splashtop Remote Desktop

($6.99) Like the other apps listed, Splashtop lets you play your video and music files from your computer to your iPad. However, this isn’t all Splashtop provides. It’s a true remote desktop tool to see and control your Windows PC from your iPad. You get full access to your computer and all your files. You can watch videos and even play games located on your pc, since audio and video is provided. The app supports multiple computers as well and is one of my favorite new apps. Currently Splashtop only works with a Wifi connection.

Air Video

Air Video gives you the ability to stream and watch videos in AVI, DIVX, MKV and other file formats. File conversion is accomplished in real-time as you watch them over the air. If you prefer to storing the videos on your device rather than streaming them, you can let Air Video convert it to the iPad format with one tap. In addition to video, Air Video allows you to share folders on your harddrive and your iTunes playlists. It works with both Wifi and 3G. From your desktop, grab the software at Air Video App.

StreamToMe

($2.99) With StreamToMe, you can stream both video and music from your Windows PC or Mac directly to your iPad. StreamToMe supporst MP4, AVI, MOV, FLV, MPG, MKV and WMV file formats. After downloading the app, you’ll need to download the free desktop application, ServeToMe.

($2.99) OPlayer lets you stream your audio and video files by using the built-in web browser to download and play. You can transfer media files from your PC to your iPad over Wifi. Supported music files consist of MP3, WMA, RM and AAC. Video files supported include WMV, AVI, MKV, RM, RMVB, XVID, MP4, MOV, 3GP and MPG. The app works with both Wifi and 3G connections.
